Great Skiing Day

Steph and I were able to spend the day after Christmas on the sunny slopes here in Steamboat. Good snow conditions and good weather combined to make it a great morning/afternoon on the slopes. I’ve been using a neat little iphone app that tracks vertical feet skied, max speed, etc… For the day we went 14.6 miles, skied 13836 vertical feet, and went down a max slope of 41 degrees. I’d love to say that max speed was 104.7 MPH but obviously I must have lost GPS signal at some point and it thought we had gone a LOT faster in that time than we did. Here’s the tracks exported from Google Earth.

As promised, here is a photo of me from last weekend at Ski Roundtop:

Hitting the slopes

This weekend I’ll be heading up to my old stomping grounds in PA for a much-needed ski getaway. I haven’t been to Ski Roundtop since 1992 or 1993. That’s a heck of a long time considering how much time that I spent there back in my high school days. I also haven’t been on skis probably since 1999 when I was working at the ski slopes up at Snoqualmie Falls in WA.

I’m sure that I will probably end up being very sore come Monday once I’m back home but it will be so worth it to actually glide down the snow again. The only downside is that it’s supposed fairly nice Monday and with me being off work it would be nice to get a round of golf in. Now THAT would be a fun-filled weekend!

I’ll post pictures when I get home.
