WBCOOP and Stars $10 Rebuy

Well, we're currently at the third break of the WBCOOP. If you want to know what that means, just look it up :) Anyway, it's a freeroll for bloggers that has a $40k prize pool. There are now 188 left out of the 1337 that started. The prize bubble starts at 81st place with some schwag and 1st place is a $12k prize package to the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. A bunch of WPBT members are still in it so hopefully if I don't win then I'll at least know the winner.

At the same time we recently excited the 2nd hour of a $10 rebuy, also on Stars. I'm sitting at about 2k above average with ~600 people left after over 2000 started. The top 227 spots pay in that one with a $15k first prize. So it's possible (although highly unlikely) that I could end up winning almost $30k in the next few hours. Wouldn't that be nice?

So if you're not busy then come rail me!

Limit Cash Games

It's an amazing day in a lot of ways. The sun is out and warm. I got out of work early. It's a long holiday weekend. I'm playing Limit Hold'em. Wait, what was that last part? Ah yes. I realize that many of you are thinking ,' brdweb, no-limit is where all the fish and action are!' Well sure, there might be more tables and action out there in NL land. However I've come to realize that although I don't feel that I'm a bad NL player, I don't like the swings very much. That's probably why I enjoy MTTs so much. They let me use my NL skills but I have both a built-in stop loss amount and the opportunity for a big payday. When it comes to cash play though I just like to take advantage of others' mistakes slowly. Why take a risk that they'll hit their 3 outer on one hand when I'm pretty much guaranteed to get their chips slowly if we play long enough? I deposited some cash on Stars so that I could take advantage of their 1 billionth hand reload bonus. That's another area where limit has the advantage, at least online. You can clear a bonus much faster playing limit. So I'm two-tabling 1-2 6-max tables and as I sat there I realized that stars actually still has plenty of fish playing limit poker! I had played a bit recently on FTP and didn't notice it to quite that extent although I was still ahead there. I would have to assume that this holds true for live play as well. I know that a lot of folks think that online fish are bigger donkeys that live but I just always seem to see even worse play in a casino. I feel that it's because that when somebody takes the time to actually drive to a casino they really want to get in the action. Online, you can play at any time you want so you don't have that itch to play. Pauly recently wrote about admitting that he's just a limit grinder and is not ashamed to admit it. Well put me into that category too.

A Disappointing Cash and a Neat Site

Played in a $15 buyin MTT on Stars last night. It started at 10pm so it was already later that I normally will start one of these things. Almost 4 hours later I had 3x my buyin put back into my account and went to bed. Not a whole lot stands out other than when I've been playing my new tight & uber-aggressive style, I get antsy even earlier than I used to once we're in the money. I don't know why that is. Last night it was giving away half my stack with KJ in the SB after raising and calling the BB push. I should have just folded and lived to fight another hand. It probably wouldn't have mattered anyway as 3 hands later I push against QQ while holding JJ on a flop with all undercards, but I still need to learn to be more patient at that point. While in our girly IRC chatroom, Garth started talking about a stats site that he had found. It is called "Official Poker Rankings". Don't know how official it ends up being but it's got a pretty slick interface and combines the best of some of my other favorite stat sites out there. I definately think you need to take a look at the overall rankings with a grain of salt. Do I really think I'm the 6,000th best MTT player over the last 4 months? Not even close although I've been on a good run and played a ton.

WSOP ME $160 DS

Well I just won my way into a double shootout sat for the WSOP Main Event on PokerStars. For those unfamiliar with this format, it is essentially two Sit 'n Goes where the winners of the first table all advance to the 2nd. In this case, I spent $15.50 on a rebuy MTT to get my seat. In this tournament, 9th place or the final table first out, gets $30, which actually would even be a profit for me. 2nd through 8th get $160, which is the actual buyin for the sat. 1st place gets an $11,000 prize package which can be $12,000 if you agree to wear PokerStars logo'd gear at the ME. Although I hadn't played much lately, they have yet another new deposit processor that I tried out. It's quick and easy to sign up and the 4% deposit fee isn't exorbitant considering the current landscape. It does have the downside of not being able to cash back out to. But if I ever hit a big score I will just either actually get an epassporte account or request a check. These double shootouts on stars have always in the past been some of my favorite satellites and although I was planning on just trying some sats for the $1500 events, this was just too good of an opportunity to pass up. So hopefully you'll see a big post with a screenshot later if I can punch my ticket!
