Stephanie bought me a Crock Pot as a ‘just because’ gift the other day. I’ve been saying that I wanted to get one for awhile now, showing her different models that caught my eye every time we ventured into a cooking store. She has hesitated, thinking that letting food ‘fester’ for hours is disgusting. Finally she wore down and became resigned to her fate of having to eat food slow cooked.

I think that it’s a great technique when you want a nice filling dish without a lot of worry. There are a lot of things that you can prepare when you get up in the morning, throw in the Crock Pot, and let it cook all day to be waiting for you when you get home from work. They don’t have to be hard to prepare at all either. For our first dish, I just threw a couple of chicken quarters in and covered them in barbecue sauce. After a few hours the meat will just fall off the bone. It doesn’t get any easier than that!
