Well today I actually fired up FTP today to play a little bit of poker. Early in the morning I decided to play a little $5+.50 Omaha/8 Sit N Go. I by no means am an excellent Omatard player but boy did I feel dominating in this thing! It was typical in that mostly everybody at the table had no regard for their starting cards. With me only being in the hand with huge draws or near-nuts, it was actually very easy and I coasted to the win.

Later on, I decided to hop in one of the $10+1 donkaments that started at 4pm. There were 303 runners in this one, which is a field size that I enjoy. Just a shade over 4 hours later, here was the result:

That’s right, I actually final tabled! Overall it was a pretty typical deep run. I made one bad move and hit an A for my 3 outer (I had the guy covered), I made one great move for a ton of chips with about 30 left, and overall played very tight/agressive poker. I got slightly impatient when 3 handed after I had to make a laydown the previous hand against PokerStunna89, who ended up being a very solid player. The s00ted dude was a complete donk and I had seen him both raise and call all-in very light. So after he raised my BB on the button, I came over the top with KT. He called with Ax, I don’t hit, and I go home $363.60 richer. A little disappointed as I stayed in the top 10 for probably 3/4ths of the entire thing. However, I had taken a hit to my stack and was 17/20 at one point as well. It’s my first top 3 in awhile so it definitely feels good to get back on track.

Live Country Music

Sunday night, Stephanie and I went to see a concert at Merriwether Post Pavillion. It was my first time seeing a show there and the venue overall is quite nice. Parking was free and close-by, and the venue was huge. We did make the mistake of showing up only about 20 minutes before the concert started when we had lawn seating. So we squeezed into a very small spot near the back. You couldn’t actually see the performers on stage but there were a few giant screens we could see the action on.

The headliner was Kenny Chesney, with Sugarland and Pat Green opening. Overall it was a very good show. My only real complaint was that for the first two acts, the music and vocals were far too low compared to the bass and it was hard to make out the words during some of the songs. The sound folks seemed to fix that by the end but you would have thought it would have been taken care of during sound checks earlier in the day. Here are some blurry pictures that I took with my phone during the concert:

It’s hard taking a picture of yourself with a phone!

Bankroll Tracking

Even though I have and even sometimes use, Pokertracker, I sometimes have trouble keeping track of the ‘ole Bankroll across the still-many sites and money funding options that are out there. I found a pretty good excel spreadsheet that helped track it all but didn’t start using it. With the release of Numbers as a part of iWork ’08 I decided to convert the thing as a way to test Apple’s new spreadsheet.

I am pretty happy with the results. It’s a little bit of a pain to track all the different sessions and tournaments but it ends up keeping your overall bankroll and site totals down to the penny. So if you’re a Mac user and want to give this a shot, download the file with some sample data in it. You can also get a 30 day trial of iWork too if you haven’t bought it yet. If you do end up using it give me some feedback or just let me know!

It is a beautiful thing, so pretty just too look at! It’s my first Le Creuset item, a Square Baking dish.

I was so excited to get it! We went into the Marshall’s that’s in the Pentagon Center. Having never gone in before Jason decided it was time for a visit. We found a nice Yankee Candle and this wonderful dish. Even better it was $12.95!!!! The best online sale price I could find was $29.99 so I think we definitely scored big!
I can’t wait to use it and the best thing is that it’s dishwasher safe! My great pots and pans are lovely to cook in but having to hand wash them can be a pain (for Jason – I don’t do dishes!!)

  • 8/13 – I can’t seem to remember what we had – I could ask Jason but his answer is always “I ate, it was good, I don’t remember what it was!”
  • 8/14 Angel Hair & Herb Pasta – so nothing to brag about!
  • 8/15 Steak & Shrimp – you can’t go wrong with those!!!
  • 8/16 Armands subs – we just love these! Order online and they show up piping hot!
  • 8/17 Thanksgiving in August! chicken & stuffing!
  • 8/18 After a long bike ride we were hungry early and grabbed some Irish Nachos and Chicken Tenders at Sine
  • 8/19: Dinner was simple Hamburgers and a great fresh salad. I also whipped up individual strawberry shortcakes which came out great. They were the perfect size for Jason and I to split one.

Highlight for tomorrow night – Jason is making lasagna! This means no cooking for me, leftovers for at least one night, and lunch for a day or two!! Yay!!!
